Street Crossing

Noted during the opening credits of the movie PS, I Love You. Yes, that would be my maiden name there. Broome, not Orchard. And this is an actual intersection! It's located on the lower east side of Manhattan. New York City! Yes, I enjoyed this non-standard romcom. It could have been a genuine treacle-fest considering the story, but it turned out to be funny and intelligent and real. I especially loved Kathy Bates, but how can you not? I heartily recommend this film.

Couldn't I Have Found My Camera Before I Ordered a Replacement?

Last Sunday I walked past this chair at least six times without seeing my camera right there on the armrest! But there it was! What was lost has been found!

Not merely found, mind you, but found and fully functional after over a month out in the elements! One significant snowfall plus a bout of freezing rain! If I were just a couple of inches taller I would have been able to see it out there through the kitchen window. I really need to start wearing 3" pumps and pearls ala June Cleaver in the kitchen.

Dental Woes

Normally I don't believe in coincidences. But it turns out my ouchy tooth from six weeks ago was due to infection in the roots, not the stray popcorn hull that I popped out of my gum with a bit of floss. It was fun for a while to think the first round of pain was due to snacking rather than nasty microbes lurking deep within my tooth. I woke up with it throbbing this morning. I would have to say it was in the top three of awful things I have woken up with. Ever. No, I will not elaborate. So. I need a root canal followed by a crown. Which is going to eat up my entire float! I never would have thought it was good luck that the plumber has thus far not been able to get started on replacing my bathtub, but there it is. Those funds will now be funneled into tooth #31. Tomorrow I need to call the endodontist to whom I have been referred and make an appointment. I am not looking forward to this procedure. At all. I'd much rather spend the money on a bathtub. And new countertops. And a range hood. That would be something to look forward to. Pardon me while I pop my antibiotic capsule and mitigate its effect on my digestive system with yogurt.

The Naked Truth

"The Truth coming out of the well" Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1896
So. A friend called this painting to my attention the other day. I thought it was due to the interesting story attached to the painting. I read the story and after looking at the painting it occurred to me that it resembled me somewhat. Dark hair, pale skin, hippy and broad of shoulder. I'm certain I've made that facial expression upon the discovery of cat barf on the floor. Particularly if I have discovered it by stepping in it. Turns out she sent me the link without reading the accompanying story herself, she was taken with what she felt was a dead ringer level of resemblance between the subject and moi. I'm flattered. I still look like this, though, truth be told, I wasn't wearing my glasses. The older I get, the better I enjoy soft focus me.

Hacked

Someone used my IP address to download a single image of child pornography. There is nothing quite like hearing a knock at the door and finding a local police detective on the front steps to deliver this news. Aside from being horrified, I also feel violated. My internet is password protected but I will definitely be changing it. A police department tech person will be by in the next couple of days to check our electronic devices for this image. While I have nothing to hide, again, I feel a bit violated. Pardon me while I go throw up and take a hazmat shower.

Hello, Gorgeous Kitchen!

Please pardon this moderately crappy photo of a pic in a decorating magazine. I was waiting for Reid while he got a dental exam and found a quite recent copy of HGTV Magazine! While perusing the glossy pages, I came upon this updated kitchen and fell in love with the colors they used! It's ever so clear to me now how I must proceed with my own kitchen mini-remodel. The yellow oak finish on the cabinets shall be painted black and be adorned with brushed steel hardware. Then, when it is time to replace the countertops and backsplash, I'll go with a dark maple wood tone for the countertops (unsure of the material) and white subway tiles for the backsplash. Unlike the photo, I'm keeping the upper cabinets. Interestingly, the only thing I'm keeping from my original redo idea is the white subway tile backsplash. I am forging forward with black paint! This is why I don't watch remodeling or decorating shows on television. I get ideas. Too many to actually put into action, so they clutter up my brain when I have other things to consider. Just one waiting room magazine on an annual basis suits me just fine.

Good Things Come in Pink Packages

When a friend offers you farm fresh, beautiful, delicious eggs, you say yes. Most emphatically yes. Yes.
