English Breakfast

My new, very Spring-ey, garden themed teacup. Two Splendas and cream, please. It was delicious.

Twenty-Four Hours

Yesterday morning's view from the patio door.

This morning's view of the same. Except yesterday I didn't capture this annoying reflection of the back of one of the barstools. Colorado weather. It turns on a dime.

Actually, it seems that I did capture the back of the barstool in the first photo. It's less obvious against the whiteness of the snow. Meh.

Beer!

The wine tipplers had their day back in February. Today is National Beer Day! And while I could find no historical significance for the wine drinking celebration being placed on the eighteenth day of the second month, today's date marks a grand day in America's history. We can thank President Franklin D Roosevelt for signing the Cullen-Harrison Act in March of 1933 which allowed for the production, sale, and consumption of 3.2 beer beginning one month later. Paving the way for the end of Prohibition. Which I am grateful for. It's not quite time to mow the lawn yet, but I might just observe the grand post lawn mowing tradition of enjoying a beer out on the deck this afternoon. Just for practice.

Dear Pam

You let him take you away from us. Whatever the particulars were, you chose how things are now. And that's your right. To choose which direction your life will take and who will be included in that choice. I don't blame you or hold any grudge toward you. All I know is, it's been five years, dear sister. And I miss you terribly.

Downstairs

The main room in the basement has recently been rendered much more civilized. While there is more to be done, for instance, Reid's future bedroom closet door is leaning up against the wall behind the table holding the lamp and boom box. All I need to do is buy some fancy barn door type hardware to hang it. And then actually get around to hanging it.

While I enjoy the minimalist look of the empty frames, eventually they will be filled with a family photos project. And the covered object under the table is the pink flamingo table that will be unveiled once in its proper space, hopefully sometime this summer.

With so many projects you'd think I wouldn't require the distraction of a jigsaw puzzle. But I do. Only the best households have a space for one in progress at all times. And we do strive to be one.

The Bagel of His Discontent

When you request them to slice the bagels, you expect that the slice will be more or less centered. Also that you'll get both parts of the bagel, no matter how asymmetrically it is cut. At least he reported that it tasted quite delicious despite the slicing fail.

It's Your Day!

Go forth and be foolish! But be foolish responsibly. Be the fool your mother would be proud of. Off with you, now!
