Happy Birthday, Michael!

My firstborn is twenty-seven today. I am grateful to him for teaching me so many life lessons. That spending time with him, whether it was reading stories or playing or cuddling, was so much more important than if the dishes got washed. He brought out in me patience and delight and love that I had no idea I possessed. Nothing simultaneously humbles you and raises you to a higher place than caring for a tiny, helpless new human. I may have given birth to him, but becoming a kind and loving and remarkable man is mostly to his credit. I am so very happy that he is in my life. I wish him the merriest of natal days.
