Lost & Not Yet Found Dept.

My camera is missing. Anyone seen my camera? It's about the size of a bar of soap, pink, loaded up with two AA rechargeable batteries, in a pink case with a biner clip, and over ten years old so practically an antique as far as electronic devices go. I could be taking pics of various Halloweeny stuff around the house and posting them if only it would appear. Of course, as soon as it does turn up, I will be suddenly enlightened with a clear memory as to how it ended up there and why. In the meantime, open up another tab and google cute black kitties for your cute black kitty fix today. Good luck. And should you find my camera and return it to moi unscathed, I shall be most grateful. Perhaps grateful enough to bake you a pie.

Back to Black Cats in Hats

This cat is thinking about how he is going to shred the people in their sleep who made him wear this silly hat and sit still for a photo. He is also wondering if it's time for a treat. If you ask me, he deserves one for sitting still for a photo while wearing a silly hat.

Fierce!

Other than needing a manicure, this feisty little one is absolutely perfect.

But I Digress...

This is not my black kitten. Nor is this my plastic jack o'lantern. And technically that isn't my area rug. But! In another state in another house with a decorating scheme that has been so very long gone, I did have an area rug just like it. With the matching runner and smaller rectangular rug to boot. See?

Okay. Fine. You can't see the floor in this photo. But! In the very room where I was standing a mere four years ago, there used to be a rug identical to the one in the upper photo. For approximately four years. From 1997, when this addition on the house was mostly finished and it expertly hid the plywood subfloor, until late 2001 when we remodeled the kitchen and removed the rug and installed laminate flooring. Which means photographic evidence of the matching rug exists in the pre-digital camera era. Which means I have to look for a photo. And then scan it. If the scanner will cooperate. It could be a while. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Einstein Again

This table and all that is on it is my domain! I shall guard it with all my ferocious fierceness! And now that I have your attention, is it time for treats?

We Are Very Serious People

Continuing the black cat theme, I have gone back five years to Halloween in Tucson with my sisters. We dressed up as a bucolic trio! On the left moi is in the guise of a Holstein cow. In the middle is Miss Pam as a saucy milkmaid. And to keep the barn pest-free, little sis Martine is a, wait for it, black kitty! Aren't we fabulous? Yes. Yes we are.

Just Hanging Around

I could probably post a photo of Steinie every day this month. I shall try to restrain myself. But isn't he adorable?

Just Looking

My cat, Einstein, inspecting a dried grass arrangement. This was several years ago, so I don't remember if he ate some of this and then later barfed it up. But that was always the standard operating procedure. When you're cute, you get away with pretty much everything.

@ The Denver Oddities and Curiosities Expo

What better way to spend a fall afternoon but to day trip to the Mile High City and take in all sorts of interesting things? All in one place! From all things taxidermified to funky jewelry to the loveliest art you could possibly imagine. A popular raw material used in all manner of finished products were doll parts. Heads fashioned into creepy night lights! Mobiles of plastic legs and arms! And my personal favorite, the most unique of dream catchers ever! Artist Brookelynn Bliss creates pieces she calls Nightmare Catchers in themes, well, nightmarish as well as amusing. Someone really must must purchase this beautiful, freakish thing before I have a weak moment and buy it myself. Better yet, buy this doll of a dream catcher and send it to me! I'm afraid I may be bonding with it!

Back to Black Cats

I was distracted for a few days from the black cat Halloween theme. I do apologize. Here is a lovely black cat perched on a crescent moon. Enjoy.

Fair Warning

Sometimes you are given fair warning and you don't pay attention. For instance, I was looking for a movie to watch on Netflix last night, and something called Message in a Bottle caught my eye. Hmmm. Robin Wright and Paul Newman, good. Kevin Costner and from the novel by Nicholas Sparks, bad. I watched anyway even though it was predictable and mostly stupid. I knew how it would end before the halfway mark. Paul Newman stole every scene he was in. Robin Wright is beautiful and luminous and you see every emotion as it crosses her face. Kevin Costner, as always, easy on the eyes but wooden , if amiable. Turns out, my fave part of the movie was in the first half hour.

In the background during the scene when Theresa meets Garret for the first time, we see a boat named Carla-Ann. Which is almost my name. If you do a little editing. Squeeze the letters J and E in right after the hyphen and drop the final N. Thusly, Carla-JeAnn. Close enough. It's movies like this that make romance suck. I can't not recommend it enough.

BatKitty!

What more could anyone possibly need to get in the Halloween spirit than this photo? It's a black kitten wearing bat wings! Those fangs certainly could be naturally occurring, even my Newt has one major snaggletooth. If batkittens truly existed, they would be a combination of two of my favorite animals. Though the idea of a flying kitten is a bit frightening. Which makes the batkitten even more Halloweeney that I initially thought!

Cat in the Hat Experiment

Adorable tiny hat.

Contemptuous look from cat.

Cat pretending to ignore tiny cute hat.

Hmmm. It smells okay...

Fine. But I won't wear it on my head.

Formal Kitty

Tis the second day of October. I may just post an adorable cat pic every single day this month. Preferably a black kitty. You're welcome.

October!

To kick off All Hallows Month, how about a photo of a very handsome mostly black kitty? This is my dearly departed Einstein from six years ago. Looking all regal and this-is-my-turflike. His brother Newton is bothering me for treats. Pardon me while I attempt some seasonal decorating.
