And the Winner Is...

I know that staying up late isn't going to change any of the election results. I'm a Democrat in a heavily Republican state. At this moment with 75% of precincts reporting, Republican idiot speeder Kristi Noem is narrowly leading incumbent Democrat Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. I haven't always agreed with Stephanie on the issues. But I have found her to be accessible, intelligent and interested in doing her best for the people of South Dakota. Ms. Noem, on the other hand, seems to have no grasp on the issues and not a clue about governmental process. Maybe that's why she didn't show up to pay those speeding tickets, she doesn't understand what a bench warrant is. It's been a negative and ugly campaign. Now that the GnOP has taken control of the US House of Representatives, let's hope they step up with some good ideas to solve our country's problems. Instead of just naysaying and gridlocking. Is it too much to ask that they be grown-ups and make productive use of time and resources? Rather than stay up and bite my nails, think I'll go to bed. Get up in the morning and read the results in the newspaper. With a big cup of coffee, thank you.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for South Dakota. North Carolina is stuck with Richard Burr for another four years. His negative ads (financed primarily by anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-separation-of-church-and-state groups) have flooded the television and radio airwaves for here weeks. And they apparently worked. :(

I've been meaning to tell you, I really love the new blog title. It suits you perfectly! :)

I mentioned this in my new blog post, but I'll tell you here in case you miss it, my personal posts are all going on my Tumblr now. I don't know if you've ever visited it. I put a link in my Blogger profile, but I know not many people look at those. I like it because I can post easily from my phone. Otherwise, I'd never post. lol

Shall we just hold our breath and think really good thoughts?

Colleen, if that would help, I would do it.

Lisa, I just found your Tumblr account last week and am catching up on reading it. I love the new title as well. The old one just didn't fit anymore!

Politically I think we're stuck with another version of gridlock and negativity. It's time for ALL of our reps in Washington to shape up and get some real work done. That ought to carry right on down to local politics. I was thinking of moving to Minnesota so Al Franken would be my senator, but make sure I avoid District 6 so Michelle Bachmann isn't my Congresswoman!

I think BOTH sides need to get serious about actually doing their job and not just trying to keep it.

Me too! I think it's time for everyone to get down to the business of getting some real work done. Stop shouting slogans and waving flags and cut out the bullshit. We needed health care reform and we needed the banking/financial reform, I just hope they don't waste time trying to dismantle either of these badly needed pieces of legislation.
