Ed from South Dakota!

Was that you calling into TotN Science Friday? Advocating the burning of steel wool spinning about on a wire hanger handle? And lighting the thing with a nine volt battery? I'm so shocked. I would have figured you for something that explodes!

Uh, I know you like to tease me, but this time I have no idea what you are talking about.

I was listening to Talk of the Nation, Science Friday edition, on NPR this afternoon. One segment had three guests who were experts on or had written books about cool explosive home-made things you could do for the fourth of July. One of them cautioned that perhaps some of them shouldn't be done at home. Ed, from South Dakota, called in and described an interesting flaming experiment where you could set steel wool on fire. I just thought it might have been you. And I'm not making this up, my sister heard it in Tucson, AZ! Once again, Ed, you were THIS close to fame!
